Book Sales to Benefit the Center

A new book by Richard Stathem, Just Notice… Just This The Body and Mind of the Yogas is now available. Proceeds from the book will benefit The Tristesse Center, a grief counseling center where bereaved families know they are not alone – where they can share feelings, celebrate the lives of their loved ones, cry and be comforted and create new lives nurtured and enriched by their memories. Richard first met Tess, after whom the center is named, and her mom, Laura, when they began attending one of his yoga classes in 1999.

“Over two years ago I decided it might be nice to gather together all of the yoga handouts I have written through the years and compile them into a book.  So, for about two years I have been rewriting and re-illustrating lessons, and updating handouts, and compiling articles I have written, and have written some new ones,” said Stathem, The book includes a sixty-page section of Hatha Yoga exercises with a seventy-page section of original writings on yoga philosophy.

Richard Stathem began formal yoga studies, practice, and teaching while working as a public school classroom teacher in Houston, Texas in the early 1970's. Richard taught and studied yoga in Houston for the remainder of the decade, then relocated to Tulsa in 1981.

Teaching settings in Tulsa have included The Praxis Project, Tulsa Community College, The Center for Personal Growth, Massage Therapy Institute of Oklahoma, St. John's Episcopal Church, and several Tulsa-area YW- and YMCAs.

The book is available for $15 at The Tristesse Center, 1709 South Baltimore. It is also available in Tulsa at Peace of Mind and Steve's Sundries. It can be purchased on line at www.buybooksontheweb.com for $13.95 plus shipping.
