Baby shower theme for 2 mom's. Wow that could be tough.

Here are some of the ideas I found:

Nine months pregnant
We invited the guests to come "nine months pregnant" (stuffed with pillows, etc.) so the about-to-pop mother-to-be wouldn't feel physically out of place. It was a co-ed shower, so even the men stuffed their shirts to be "with child"! The dressing up made for a nice icebreaker since all of the guests didn't know each other beforehand and created a very fun, relaxed atmosphere.
— Maggie

Layette party
Hang a clothesline in the room. Have guests arrive before the guest of honor and bring an item from the layette or an article of clothing for the baby and hang it from the clothesline. When the mom-to-be walks in, she'll be delighted. She can also take the clothesline and clothes pins for her own personal use.
— Sabrina

Tea party
My sisters-in-law and two friends threw a surprise tea party baby shower for me. They made fresh flower centerpieces for the tables. They borrowed teapots, plates, and cups from a relative and placed a set on each table. My theme was teddy bears, so they borrowed bears and set them all around the room. All the tables were covered with fancy tablecloths and guests were asked to dress up. The menu started with assorted teas, scones, etc. The main menu was turkey on a croissant, fresh fruit slices, and a salad. People are still talking about the shower!
— Heather

I wish your mom the best of luck!
References :
well i can think of a couple of things:
you can always make a "baby in a bubble" baby shower, with bubbles everywhere, in decoration and games, and you can give people bubble bottles.... or you can have an colorful-all-original mexican party with piñatas ad all, or.......you can do a "costume party" baby shower, where people have to go dressed as the way they think the future baby will look like or will work in......
my two baby showers' themes were tropical fruits and "the jungle", and they were a lot of fun as you might guess....
so Good Luck!
References :
My one and only shower happened when I had 7 wks left -- I gave birth two days later!! My MIL and SIL were talking about a shower for their side a week before I was due. They cancelled it after I delivered early, which really sucks. I would have liked to celebrate my pregnancy with more of my family than I did.

So? Speak up. If when your Dad is here works best, put your foot down. Also, the earlier you have the shower the more time you'll have to put everything away.
References :
don't do a character theme, just pick a color scheme and stick with it throughout the table ware and decor. I think baby showers are generally really tacky, but they don't have to be. use earth-tones like grass green, reds, yellow, etc. bring in a lot of fresh flowers and use patterned napkins from ikea - they have a ton of cute stuff like that! you could even give them each a foot bath and/or foot massage as part of the activities at the shower. There are tons of word games online that are easy to print out so you don't have to play "guess the babyfood flavor" yuk!
References :
with my first I didn't have a baby shower before the baby arrived. What me and my mother did was have kind of a meet the baby party. That way I already had every thing needed, so anything people brought was just an extra.
References :
Why not just a summer garden-party theme? You could have some flowers and some veggies or plants and croquet and maybe some other sports for decorations. If they have decorated or are starting to decorate the nursery, continue some of that theme to the shower. Or instead of Noah's ark, how about just animals. I have two boys and am expecting a third in the next 4-6 weeks and no matter how trite would have loved massive amounts of pink, tea party or ballerina stuff if I was having a girl. Even the least girly mom sometimes likes to have the over-the-top pink-fest. You only get this chance once (per kid).
References :
I had both of my showers a couple months earlier, my son was born Sept 22, and the shower was July 13... my twins were born Oct 22 and their shower was the end of August... you want to be comfortable and have fun, plus if your dad could be there, I don't see the question, of course you want him there... as for your other sis-in-law, that is rude, this is about a baby celebration, not a girls weekend that can be done at any time! Good luck to you and have fun!
